Inital Assessment

In your first online session, your psychologist will explore your concerns in a safe, non-judgmental space. This session helps guide your individual treatment plan.

Toby Bartle

Principal Psychologist, Founder

Toby Bartle is a registered psychologist (PSY0002097884) with over ten years' experience in mental health, disabilities and education. His experienced is varied, having worked in Western Australia and Queensland in non-government organisations, public health services, emergency departments, crisis response teams, rural outreach programs, schools, universities and now private practice. In doing so, Toby is well versed in providing personalised care to individuals across the life span with whatever challenges they may be facing. He is passionate about your well-being. Outside of clinical experience, Toby is committed to learning and remains actively involved in research and ongoing education.

Lucia Bunce

Mental Health Counsellor

Lucia Bunce is a registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association (M.A.C.A.11834) and has spent over seven years supporting people in the local community. Her work includes extensive experience in crisis counselling and engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life circumstances.​

Lucia is committed to creating a safe, welcoming space for people to feel heard, respected, and understood. Drawing on a person‑centred approach, she works alongside clients as they explore their experiences and take steps toward positive and sustainable change.

Kayla Watson

Administration

Kayla Watson brings several years of experience providing administrative support to psychologists and their clients. She understands the needs of both clinicians and clients and responds with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency.

Alongside her work at Tumbleweed Therapies, Kayla is completing a Master of Clinical Psychology and has undertaken clinical placements across a range of public settings. These experiences have strengthened her knowledge and deepened her commitment to person-centred care.

FAQ's

What fees are involved?

Please note prices vary depending on location, referral pathway and service being provided, however....

The cost of a standard 50-minute session is $185. 

With a referral under a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, a rebate of $98.95 is available for up to 10 sessions.

Out of pocket cost = $86.05.

*Private paying clients may be eligible for a rebate through their private health fund, however, both private health fund and Medicare rebates cannot be accessed at the same time.

Do I need a referral?

You don't need a referral to see a psychologist in Australia, however, it does help subsidise the cost making it more affordable for you. To obtain a referral, please visit your GP and discuss your current concerns to see if you are eligible for referral under a Mental Health Care Plan, allowing for up to 10 subsided sessions.

What if I have other funding available (e.g., DVA, NDIS or Work Cover)?

We are able to provide services that allow you to use the funding available to you, so you don't incur an out-of-pocket cost. These services are available through:

Who can refer?

Various professionals can refer patients to therapy:

Psychiatrists: Diagnose mental health conditions and may refer patients for additional support in talk therapy.
GPs: Often the first to identify mental health needs, GPs can provide referrals to therapy.
Support Workers: May suggest therapy if they observe behaviors indicating further mental health support.
Social Workers: Help address life challenges and may refer clients to therapy for trauma.
Psychologists: Refer patients to therapists specialising in specific techniques or areas.
Counsellors: Recommend therapy for clients needing in-depth mental health support.
School Counselors: Refer students when academic or behavioral issues arise.
Crisis Workers: Connect individuals in acute distress with long-term mental health resources.
Case Managers: Coordinate care and may include therapy as part of a client’s comprehensive support.

Each plays a vital role in ensuring clients receive appropriate mental health care.

How long does the assessment and diagnosis process take?

The assessment and diagnosis process typically takes between 2 to 5 weeks, depending on the type of assessment required and individual needs. This timeframe allows us to thoroughly evaluate your situation, gather necessary information, and provide an accurate diagnosis and treatment recommendations. We aim to keep you informed throughout the process and ensure a smooth, timely experience.
